and when i went to fetch my car in jhb a while back and on teh first day i fileld her up on Sasol unleaded.......i blew the engine????is the fuel a factor???the pre owner says unleaded....a few other makkies here in teh cape say mos def LRP?!?!?
i have a MSX standalone managment sys :?
At the coast a higher octane is needed to combat detonation, Nissan's engines were Unleaded compatible since 1989. The main thing about why certain engines need leaded is the valves were made of a softer metal back in the day, or something to that affect, that needed the lead as padding or something, cant remember exactly but leaded or unleaded wont affect how the engine works.

Older engines needed the lead as a lubricant, mainly for the valve guides.

Well I filled my car with unleaded, drove around a bit, and took the battery of for the nite, put the battery back on this morning and drove to work....

So I'll have to check if it reset the ecu... Hopefully it did.

I'm gonna try it next time I fill up, let us know how it goes!

I hope it doesn't activate the self-destruct timer on my unichip...
