The thing is, on my golf I had the lifters doing that untill the oil lubs the well then it goes away. But this stays there even when the car is hot. Maybe a oil change would do the trick. I dont know what type of oil the previous owner used.

Im studying for a mechanical engineer and I know ppl always say jy but you engineers think you can fix it all but hay sumtimes we have the brain to think it but maybe not the hands to do it...so maybe it is oil.

Cool man Il give him a ring and take it there.

While you guys are here and helping...my aircon...wel it doesnt mork...all the fuses are A-ok, I checked the ones in the engine bay and the ones at your feet inside the cabin. If I pop the ac switch the light doesent come on and it sure as hell is not making the lovely hot summers day a bit cooler. Someone told me that if the gas is oppellallas then there is a low pressure switch automaticaly turning off the ac...BUT gas dont just disappears out of a closed system and I checked all the pipes and found no leaks.

What can I do to get sum cold air running thru my hair on a hot summers day...damn that sounded gay!!! Ha ha

Could be a Broken piston Ring or ring landing

Ok Phinx,

But wouldnt that mean there would be some oil or smoking out the exhaust?

many many engines i've seen/heard that have run bearings, have manifested with a rattle kind of sound at a particular RPM.

so you're sure its engine related??? cos these are old cars - they have rattles!!!!

Well yes it sounds like and comes from there, but i've checked something on youtube now, and thy call it rod knock...but my rattle doesnt sound exactly the same.

My rattle is only between 2000 and 3000 rpms and when I leave the throttle it goes away. The rattle on youtube gets louder when they release the throttle.

My S14 had bearing knock, it was also prominent between 2500 and 3000 RPM (120km/h on the highway)

It also manifests itself like this, i.e no oil burning, no loss in power, no knock at light throttle, but one day you'll put a conrod through your block.

You're gonna get 300 different answers from this forum, rather look at opening it yourself or taking it to a pro.

Nope not at all.

I checked it out now...It starts exactly at 2200 rpms and goes up to 3600 rpms.
