Flywheel

Post by antman »

Hi Veecee, what has the effect been on the reduction of weight on your lightened flywheel? who did the work and was it balanced after lightening? Lightening my flywheel has been on the cards for some time but not sure of how much to have taken off.

hey antman...

my engine was rebuilt by JB Engineering in strijdom park...

as for it feeling different - i must say i cant really feel any difference on my butt dyno. i've driven many many s13's that havent had this mod done, and i've driven mine. but its a little difficult to know for sure, because i never really felt MY engine/car before the rebuild was done.

my car does rev happily to the redline though, no problems.

after my engineer was done with the motor, but before he assembled it, i had it sent to edenvale for balancing and blueprinting. so its really smooth. that was a really good thing to do, and its quite cheap. less than a grand to balance a 4 cylinder, its worth every penny.

i would say if you're strapped for cash, rather have the engine balanced than reduce the weight of the flywheel!
