i reckon. specially if its the throttle body thing, on that piece of cast aluminum that the fuel rail bolts to...
because if you aren't happy with the power, then you can swap heads from your two motors and you will be able to bolt the throttles onto the 4 port head.
then you should definintely be able to make the power you're after!

That is a great idea but that cost to do that, another head gasket, etc. I want it right the first time. I have lots of time so will keep looking.

Hod do the NA heads compare to the DET?
I have a spare CA18DE head that's been flowed by Nissan Motorsport.
only prob is it had a crack somewhere on the no4 port. But the engineers told me it can be easily fixed.

The DE head is common mod for teh DET block, they flow more than the DET do.

In that case there is some extra power....are you sure that head fits straight on the block and obviously the det inlet and outlet manifold bolt straight on that head....
then again it should because we use the CA18DE gasget set....

Doctor G, what is wrong with your DET head??
I dont think you can distinguish between the 2 by just looking at it.

Nothing wrong with my det head. It's on the car now and running jsut fine.
I'm just thinking that if I rebuild my bottom end then I may as well use the "better flowing" DE head since it's naturally better + it has a flow job already.

Sorry to cause Cr@p here but I really don’t think the DE head will flow anymore then the DET.
It just sounds strange to me, because why would Nissan have two different casting numbers for the 4 port Heads on the CA18DE and CA18DET and if so then I would suspect the DET head has been made stronger to take the punishment of boost by having material added, maybe around the ports or so on.
The Only real mass producing manufacturer I know that will change/modify there heads for the same Engine is Honda and that’s for the Type R range
Whats the casting mark numbers on the heads?
But Who knows maybe Im wrong

Phinx not saying you wrong I just read somewhere on the NICO forum that the DE head flows more and there is something different about the bowls, but I might be wrong.

I must say phinx....it sounds strange for them to use different heads on a motor desighned at the same time....if anything I would think they would flow the det more because it is a performance engine.....
Not dissing what you said Gary....just thinking logic....

We know the exhaust cam of the de makes a differance....what do you think would happen if we use the inlet cam on our cars aswell...?
