can't say that it would give a prob, only thing is to probably use the machine less... just polish till it gives a haze, then wipe off...

The professional range is expensive and comes in 3.7 litre bits, so it doesn't make sense especially if you only going to use it once or twice...

what machine have you got ?

It is a Milwakee orbital, great machine I think.

Do you think the Quik Clay would be a good idea or should I just got with a paint cleaner like DC1??

Also do you think I should do a once over with scratch x before I start with the DC?? The car doesnt have many scratches but there are a few here and there like I would like gone.

use the clay over teh entire car, makes application of the products alot easier...

the scratch x is best to apply on small areas at a time and then work them in, then re-apply and rework and so on... scratch x takes work, and even then, the deep scratches are still not complately removed, but they do appear to be alot less noticeable.

then use the DC 1 on the car, one panel at a time, or even half a panel...
then DC 2 and add a wax after you're done...

do you have the correct pads to use with the machine..?

I am going to use the DC system on Saturday with Scratch X on the bad places.

What pad should I use??

you need to use teh scratch X first together with DC 1 if you want... they're both paint cleaners, scratch X is just a bit more abrasive. the DC 2 and DC 3 are just going to enhance whatever teh car looks like after DC1 and scratch X...

the pads I use are meguiars ones, so I'm not sure what you got, and there's different pad for different products... you can use the foam polishing pad for DC1, DC2, you can apply by hand... and the wax, there is a wax pad, but its notdifficult by hand either...

Ok cool, well I am going to Meguires in North coast RD today to buy the stuff, R50 each for the DC and R80 for scratch X.

Using a polishing machine so should be too bad. Got the miss's doing the interior and hopefully engine bay so she might need a massage .

nice, using your resources and also squeezing out some other benefits...

I did beg for her to invite her friends for some fun in the sun, but she turned me down...AGAIN .

Ok so woke up at 6:30 Sunday morning to get early start.

1st thing was to wash the car and after all the rain it was rather dirty. I just used a cheap wash and wax.
Then I dried it and start with the PT work of using the Scratch X. I did the roof twice over and I was really amazed at how well this stuff works. Not only does it remove fine scratches but also brings back the whiteness of the paint. Problem is I thought my roof was white untill I did a patch and the I saw how bad and discoloured the rest of the roof was so I had no choice but to do the whole roof to get an even colour. I then moved on to the front bumper which was even worse due to all the bugs and stuff which had really discoloured it. I use scratch X on the bad places and paint cleaner on the rest. The paintcleaner works well but not as well as Scratch X but then it is easier to apply.

Once I had done the worce of the car with paint cleaner and Sratch X, I started polishing. What a difference it makes, it was actually a pleasure doing because I could see I was making a difference and the side of the car now looks like glass, not exagerating I swear.

The was goes on super easy and come off even easier so went rather quick. Problem is it is boring because you cant see if you are making a difference or not, but anyway I did the whole thing.

So I am super happy with the results (I will post pics tomorrow) this is also one of the best mods I have done .

Oh ja nearly forgot the best part of the polish is the tail lights, the polish really brings them up nicely. It look brand new now.

PS: Honestly you guys dont know how bad your car is untill you do this. Only problem is it brings up all the little dents and stone chips.

but after reading all that i'm still not sure what to buy, how much it will cost, what tools i would need to do the job, etc.

like scratch x - who's product is it, how much is it, what do i do with it.

is it possible to do an article type post with pics of the products and their respective applicators and a little writeup?
