Hi Guys....

Long time no update... I have been trying to source parts for acceptable prices to meet my budget.

So far I have stripped and painter most of the engine brackets , I still have to check the HG to see if it might be usable , I damn hope so, cometic said it would be.

I have been doing allot of cleaning and work on the chassis.

P.S --- Always remember to clean under the wheel well covers the amount of crap in there was scary

I Also installed new bushings for the steering rack .
The old bushing where not that bad , So it was a bit of a waste...

--------------------------------------------------------------
Stripped the busings off

Here I did my "Hill billy mod" , I filled the engine mounts with silicone to make them harder.
In stock form the engine mount are "damn" soft

Now I would normal write a nice article on how to install a Oil cooler but I'm really not in the mood so i will post some pic's.

LOL

but nice work with the cooler, and the cleaning. cleanliness is next to godliness, so they say!!!

and now all you need to do is find a way to hide all those wires that come standard in our rats nest of an engine bay!!!

Those wheel wells, turned out good.
I used to get my little brother to use tyre polish on the inside. Makes it all nice & black & evens out the tone of black as well.

I think everybody needs that. A little brother that helps you out with those "not so nice jobs"

I don't understand where the steering bushes go? And where did you get new ones? I'm eyeing the one by the brake booster - there seems to be a lot of play there on my steering rack - can that one be replaced?

Gees - you guys dont listen hey!!!

i've done this mod on two cars now! you can buy the aluminium bush all over the net, or you can make your own one!

i used a disc of aluminium about 20mm thick. it might have been 18mm but i cant remember exactly. it doesnt really matter cos there is adjustability on the length of the steering column.

oh - the disc should be about 55-60mm, more or less again. you can get the exact dimensions once you have the rubber bushing out. but the 14mm lock nuts are a muthabiatch to remove. its easiest if your engine is out.

once the rubber bushing is out you can use it as a template to drill the correct pcd for the 4 holes too.

the only question is the effects of having a solid bushing instead of a rubber one. the rubber one is compliant, it therefore adds comfort. for instance, if my wheels are even slightly out of balance it transfers straight to the steering wheel. for instance, i have a terrible wheel wobble between 90 and 115km/h because of the treatment i give the tires regularly.

but the benefits are go-kart like steering, and amazing steering feedback. i really think hte benefits outway the drawbacks. but i might have to make a new statement once i have a front end crash and the steering wheel goes through my chest!!! hehehe = again i piss in murphy's general direction!!!!

touch wood!!!

enough from me!
