Then read how to use it. Or read how to calculate the sizes. I'm sure you don't want to put everything together just to have to take it out again cause the bearings knocked . Just saying be safe rather than a angry man later on.

I agree with you but again my question is, I am using aftermarket std bearings that come in 1 size, that size is specd within the 0.1mm play allowed, if the aftermarket bearing measures 0.099 or whatever...what do I do?

Were you given the sizes of each journal when you had it checked, perhaps by that you can judge how much room you have? If you are on the final edge of the allowed play I would rather make a plan than using it, cause it probably wont last as long as it potentially could. Seeing as you drive your car hard.
Either get a new crank then or have the existing one machined to fit bigger bearings.

"should" being the magic word :) i hear what you are saying, but i personally just dont like closing up a engine with clearances that "should" be ok..

I hear you Nico, the crank was measured with a micrometer and I was tolf it is withing spec but if I get the bearings, which has been ordered and paid already, will you be able to measure the bearings without installing it in the block, will that give you a close enough measurement to the play on the journals?

yep.. its just precaution, a journal can be on the high side of in spec, or on the low side of in spec. the same with the bearing shells, a spesific shell can be on the thick side of spec, or on the low side of spec.

so what you do is, when you start assembling, you assemble the bearing shells , main and bigends and torque the caps down, leaving the crank out. measure inside the bearing, measure the crank journal that corresponds to the position, and voila you know the clearance..

so now you can swap out bearing shells to average out the clearance, so that you dont have a bearing too tight or too loose.. thats why nissan has so many grades inside STD, so you can get very close optimum clearance..

like i said, i can help you if you want, just before you put the motor together we can quickly measure and make sure (if you want), or you can take the chance, it SHOULD be ok.. 8)
