HancoB your gt28 how quick does it boost?

Well since my exhaust manifold gaskets are a bit leaking at the moment I am losing a lot of boost.

It starts at about 4krpm But I guess when my gaskets are fixed it will boost at 3.5krpm or even lower

Yeah it should spool a lot sooner when those gaskets are fixed. Mine comes in strong at about 2800 - 2900 RPM, but I also have a 6Boost manifold which decreases spool-up time by 200-400rpm. Turbo is .64 A/R

I think my Turbo was one of the best mods I have done, and then the strut braces!

what is a 6boost manifold???

6boost manifolds are turbo manifolds that are produced in Australia. Best quality I have seen by far! They use merge collectors (designed by Kyle - owner of 6boost) that reduce turbulence where exhaust gases enter the turbo. I quote this thread from performanceforums.com :
Also, a dyno graph of manifold for above SR20 manifold. Engine is an SR20 in S15 200sx from mercury motorsport. Before power was 410rwhp with previous stainless manifold, boost controller fitted, 700hp garrett turbo, cams, internals, head work etc, boost drops from 29psi to 27.5psi at peak power.

After power is with 6boost.com turbo manifold, with my "merge collectors", 36mm ID pipe, no boost controller, same turbo, internals and cams, becuase of teh lack of boost control, the boost creeps away from the wastegate spring pressure of 17psi, to 23.5psi. New peak power is 441rwhp, a gain of 30rwhp on 4psi less boost. Draw a line in the power vertically the same distance the extra psi makes when coming on would make, and you get the picture, also note that at 4500rpm, it makes 5psi more boost and almost 60rwhp more than previous, and still with no boost controller, expected power when tuned back to the same 28-29psi is around 500rwhp on pulp.

Cheers.....................6BOOST

The guys website is not running yet unfortunately but there are a few threads if you google it.

The engine was already full house with cams and internals, plenum and 700 roller. By changing the exhaust manifold and ceramic coating the pistons only(of which is more longevity, not hp related), the engine went from making 410.5 on 28 psi, to 441.4rwhp on 23.5 psi. A gain of 31rwhp at 5psi less boost, over an already custom made stainless manifold
Sorry Shift S13, I did some R&R on the 6 boost manifold and I'm not shooting down the product I don't own one, the build quality looks great and materials are great but this collector that it has is common on most good quality tubular manifolds and exhaust savaging is common place on a N\a Car and very difficult to do on a turbo because of the Turbo itself a turbo will normal run a Exhaust pressure twice the intake manifold inlet pressure most power gains and reduced boost response id because of pulse harnessing.

Also this above "dyno proof" is a bit weird to have piston coated they will need to be remove this means new ring more consistent compression and also because of the coating reduced drag on the piston and lower combustion chamber temperatures equaling increased HP also because the car is running such high boost and has such high HP the gain will be a lot more then see on most mortal 200Hp to 300HP Motors

Sorry for the High-jack, An independent test would be better

Sorry again for the high-jack

hehe! not yet... Only got home now... so will do it next weekend...

But ja. like I asked in my Articles thread... what else do I need to run this mother? cuase its stock boost is 1.2 bar. and I can't turn it down on the actuator... Also It will start boosting later in the rev range cause of the .86a/r...
