We have an event here in PMB called sideways at the market and Masons Mill. Just those two events so far. The market was very good, a tight track so the car had to turn. Used the hand brake lots. Raced a E36 M3 and left it in 3rd gear. Wheel spin in 1st and 2nd but killed it after that.

Not sure guy it just said 200kw peak on the dyno at 0.8 bar boost. When I race it's at 1.2 bar. Dont know what power it makes then, I just change the fuel and go.

Update

Post by Fly200 »

Hello guys

Well we have been doing a lot of development with the car of late. most of the stuff we have done is on the performance side, but now we are starting with the body kit and wheels. When I completed the car we just slapped things on to get it on the road. Now we start with the good stuff.

I will update tomorrow with pictures of the things we have been doing, but the car now runs 1bar with gas at the moment. Makes very nice power.

Engine

Post by Fly200 »

We did not want to split the engine as I have had to much trouble doing so in the past. There is an exact way to do them and if you forget to follow specs then you end up opening it up again.

So we used bolt on items to improve the performance. First we fitted a 70m exhaust which gave a good tone and gave us 2kw, the tuner said with other mods that figure will improve. We then installed a NOS system with just a single fogger which is controlled via the SMTP chip (car runs on GoTech). The chip was tuned to turn on the gas at full throttle when the car is between 2200rpm and 5800 rpm. The car had lag till 4000rpm so this sorted that problem out with very good gains coming from the gas.

We then found we had to gap the plugs very small as the boost and gas blew out the spark, so we fitted MSD on the car. Made a big difference and the car is a lot smoother.

The car is now making 220KW on the wheels, but the dyno we are using has been callibrated and does not inflate the figures at all. When his dyno makes that number the car is strong. We are testing it now to see if anything breaks. We did have to change the clutch, we used a Nismo twin copper plate unit. Very heavy and we needed to use a special fly wheel with a step in it. I have not felt to many clutches grab like that one.

Also looking at gas to sort out my lag. What was the total on the NOS system and is it progressive?Only need it to 4500rpm because the turbo kicks in.

No it's not progressive, that you only need to have if your running big gas. If your just using it for turbo lag then a small jet .26 or something is fine. It just feels like your on boost all the time and the transition is smooth. It will also operate without problems.

I find with bigger jets it tends to damage the engine if the setup and fuel is not right. Also you do not want your car to surge and then the NOS turns off, you wont feel right.

It's nice using the chip thought, works only it's own so don't need to think about it when drifting.
