Brake Pads
i am looking for a good set of brake pads for my new 300zx calipers (thanks Vlade). I want something that I can get locally, not imported.
I was thinking something like EBC green stuff or that new Ferodo DS pad. Any other ideas and where can I get these??

yeah, powerbrake will supply the hawk pads, very good.
i've heard good and bad reports about ebc, but then its does have a good rep in the motoring publications.
those ferodo DS look good, but i've heard no reports on them at all.
dont forget that if yours are z32 twin turbo calipers, that the s14 pads should fit too.
so if you're really strapped to find pads, suggest that model name too!

thats madness!Gary57 wrote:Just got a quote from quartermile and they want R1700 for EBC red stuff front pads. For that price I will stick with ferodo.
the hawks are little over a grand.
how much are the ferodo's, and can you get a price for the DS discs too.
i kinda need a disc/pad combo to complete my set, so that i can install them.
oh but i will also need a zx master cylinder, and some braided lines! LOL. later then.

yeah - again i would recommend used spares from overseas... i've never even seen that model of zx in the junkmail being broken for spares.Gary57 wrote:The DS pads are R810. Not sure on the rotors, I didnt ask because I already got. They will prob be around R3000 for a pair.
I also want a Z32 master cylinder, where can I get?? It will save me boring and sleeving mine.
there are also dedicated zx workshops in the uk. they supply new and used parts. like www.zedworld.co.uk
there are couple of others. google it.

Very happy with the DS pads, only scarry when they are cold. Once hot, they perform very well, certainly better than the standard Nissan pads. Paid about R650 at Midas the last time round which was around the end of 2006. At the rear I use Autobahn, very cheap but no squeking or dust.

ATE thats the name i couldnt remember.
i've got the same setup as woohoo. ferodo platinums front, ATE at the rear.
after my first set of rear ATE's i vowed never to use them again. they were squealing whether the brakes were engaged or not, and i could change the pitch of the squeal with the pressure of my foot on the brake pedal.
but then i couldn't find any others for the rear.
so i got another set, but someone said use loads of copper compound behind the pad to prevent squealing. i did, and until now (about 3-4 thousand km's) i haven't had an issue!!!
but i cant wait to put my R32 front and rear brakes on.

LOL - thanks for the offer, but unless we can get discs and pads for the front and rear for less than 200 bucks, then i cant afford it, yet! thank god drift scrubs are cheap!Gary57 wrote:Maybe if we buy 2 sets of pads from Powerbrake we can get them cheaper.but i cant wait to put my R32 front and rear brakes on.
