Hey bud, firstly, welcome to the forum...

Secondly, re-check ur mach like Peg says....

Thirdly, make sure there is no blockage on any of the oil feed lines and ports coming from your motor, might be buildup restricting flow, anything will take the easy route rather....

Fourth, once you go turbo, there is no going back, especially if your mach knows his stuff....

Fifth, SR20 all to possible but as stated, needs to be DET not just a plain DE, otherwise just take off your turbo, go buy round top pistons for R500 and vuala, standard CA18DE.... And will cost you a crap load less. SR20 det transplant has cost me over 50k already.....

Just get yours running nice and rebuilt, then put 50k into the CA, u'll do much better that way and less stress hahah

your problem definitly is a kak mechie.. i mean ca18's come from the factory with turbo's lasting 100k and more at least.

so now just because he cant find the problem and keep blowing turbo's the ca18 is a kak motor?? fraking rediculous, id make him pay for the turbo's..

SR20 will not fit your gearbox.
Who rebuild your turbo?

I find it hard to believe that you are having such issues with blowing turbos when a mechanic is working on it, especially with 2 NEW turbos?

I'd suggest sorting out the issue as its cheaper and easier to sort out than doing an engine swap. Just do it properly.

Here's how to check for oil flow:
- Run the motor and disconnect the fuel pump fuse, let the engine die. The restart it until it wont start anymore.
- Disconnect the oil return line from the block and have it pointing down into a bucket
- Get someone to to turn the starter motor so that the engine builds up oil pressure (it should not start as the fuel pump fuse has been disconnected)
- You should see oil coming out of the oil return from the turbo at a nice steady flow.

If the oil isnt coming through nicely, you will need to diagnose further by removing the turbo and making sure the turbo is recieving oil by leaving the oil feed line attached to the block and doing the above procedure.

Just a matter of elimination.

Remember to top up your oil when you are done.

Hope this helps.

The CA box does fit the SR with the SR bellhousing, they are pretty similar gearboxes.

Hey bud, well with all the trial and error and extra add on's and things I had to replace and stuff, ye it's cost me about that. For somone who doesn't know anything and starts learning from scratch, well, should be prepaired to spend a lot more than usual to get going and to learn, OK well I suppose about 10 to 15k has been cosmetic costs to the motor but ya, about there. Although 20K is definately possible if you do everything your self I suppose....

On point 2 I sold my CA with the original turbo in perfect condition at 280 000Km, was boosting 0.9 to 1bar.
