Turbo Boost query

Post by WooHaa »

Okay, I had a standard SX turbo, which was sent in & they put in the bigger t28 compressor wheel & the .64 exhaust housing.

When the turbo was fitted, the boost come in higher, which I understand.
what I don't understand is that if I increase the boost on the turbo, shouldn't it come in on the same rev as when it was on lower boost?

The other thing is, if you ding the actuator arm, it increases the boost, so shouldn't the boost come in earlier or stay longer compared to before?

That's it for now. Got somemore questions, but will ask later.

Some graphic pics there.

The boost will come in to paek later, it will not stay throughout at paek, but it should not go below low boost at high rpm.

If you have fitted one of these crappy aftermarket boost controllers, think of replacing it if you are in the search for boost for longer periods.

Seems its difficult to stay on topic.

Here is some random text of my site:

Boost Controllers:

GFB puts the key to boost control in YOUR hands! All turbocharged vehicles utilize some form of factory boost control, most of which display a tendency to be conservative in allowing the boost to build up, and then taper away noticeably toward redline. A GFB Boost Controller however, not only allows quick and easy boost level adjustment, but it can also reduce the boost threshold (the RPM at which boost starts to rise) and maintain a rock-steady upper limit. The simple explanation is - more power, earlier and longer! Note that this controller does not use a ball-and-spring arrangement, for a very good reason.

All new from GFB is the Reactor, a dual-stage boost controller which allows one of two independently adjustable boost levels to be selected from the driver’s seat. The Reactor comes with a complete wiring harness, along with a fuse, “Rocket Launcher” style switch and all necessary plugs to make installation a breeze. All you need to do is find a 12v power source and plug it all together – no soldering! Another unique feature of the Reactor is its air-bleed return outlet, which gives you the option to feed the bleed-off air back to the inlet to ensure the entire system stays closed to the atmosphere, in the same way that most modern factory systems do. Key features of the Reactor: Made from solid Aluminium 6061 T6 billet. Lightweight rugged construction - looks great too! Allows two levels of boost to be selected from inside the cabin. Unlike other brands on the market, both boost stage adjustments are completely independent of each other. Allows bleed-off air to be plumbed back to the inlet, just like the factory system. “Rocket Launcher” style in-cabin switch. “Plug together” wiring harness, no solder joins or additional wires needed.

And I know actually realised I only got a top mount turbo manifold for the CA18DET, will lok at getting a bottom mount aswell
