new and need help please

Post by D2 S14 »

hi im new to the forum and need some help with my s14!
just got my car and new to the turbo game!

i need some help with the oil leak and a mani to turbo casket?

dont know how to upload pic

oil leak= on the the botom of the tappet cover there seems to be a triangle that joins the tappet cover! there where the vvl cam is....(dont no what its called) this is on the notch top sr20det (does it need a gasket or just sealer)

manifold to turbo= sounds like there is a hole in the exhaust!
check it and notice that there is exhaust gas is blowing like mad!!
Between the mani and exhaust housing!! how can it be fixed? new gasket?? (where do i get it??) or can u fix it with loctite gray gasket sealer?

to be honest ill only use locktite grey again and again and again it has never failed me worth the 100bucks per tube i have 3 sitting in my tool box

like i say i use it on my motor i do not have one single gasket in my motor besides the thick rubber and headgasket

i even use it here at work on most jobs where sealing is very inportant

Poizen i know you've proved it on your engine that the sealant works and you don't need the gasket but I'd never suggest using anything other than a nissan steel gasket before the turbo. Imagine what will happen if you put too much sealant and a piece breaks off inside under vibration...Goodbye turbo blades!

I think it's safe to say that the safer route is a steel gasket to prevent unecessary failures, unless you have access to the correct machinery to make all surfaces flat and you use only just enough sealant, but i wouldn't even do it!
