S13 VIN

Post by OutOfMyWay »

Hi Guys

So, Long story short,
On my old S13, the VIN on the VIN Tag was in the format JN100RS13XXXXXXXX and it was the same on the registration docs.

Yesterday i bought another one, the no. on the VIN tag is JN100RS13XXXXXXXX again, the registration certificate is very different to the one you get these days, previous owner has had the car since 1994, , the Chassis No/VIN No on the certificate and license disk is only the last 8 characters of the JN100RS13XXXXXXXX. Anybody else's S13 like this?

How do i get the new registration docs to reflect the full VIN, police clearance i assume? I've already had one car impounded for VIN no descrepancies.

the VIN No on Natis system and the papers/disk is only the last 8 digits of the number stamped on the car, The owners manual also has only the last 8 characters. the lady at the testing station said that the law only required the VIN no to be 17 digits from 1996 and my car was registered in 1993 so it's not a problem, i think i need to get police clearance to get them to register the whole 17 character number.
