get this just called them its R855 incl vat! bargain! thats the entire kit includes the chain, guides, tentioner etc!

get this just called them its R855 incl vat! bargain! thats the entire kit includes the chain, guides, tentioner etc! now to get help to install it lol

Lol I was actually going to ask you guys because he said that the kit is the same for the SR20DE and the DET, is that true anyone?

thought Id let you guys know, I just changed the timing chain tensioner and voila the sound is gone

it a common problem on high mileage SR20det....
later you will experience a similar sound then it your VTC gear

Thanks dude I hear you, there is still a slight rattle but only when it is very hot outside, nex thing I want to do is remve the upper timing chain guide I am certain that is still causing the sound.

There is a cheaper solution to try first (especially if it's in the early stages/light rattle)

The selanoid that you unplug is replaceable. The S15 SR's came out with a different design for this to cure the VVT rattle but they never did a re-call, nor did they admit to this

See here:

The one on the left is more than likely the one you have (old design), you need to replace it with the one on the right (new/s15 design). You can get these new from Nissan, or look internationally for it second hand (I can source if you need, just pm me).

It has cured VVT rattle 70% of the time in my experience, only time it hasn't is when the rattle was very bad.
