One other thing to check is for brake disk warping

Definitely check tie rod and rack ends. Any play here will cause the symptoms you described.

Jacked the car up and when i spin the wheels they are round. No movement when i move the wheels so assume bearing are fine. Disks are fine.

Might sound stupid but have you considered driveline vibration? Are you sure it's only the front wheels ie. steering?

Yes from the steering wheel, if you let it go you can see it moving

have you always had this problem or is it new?
i would suggest your disk's are badly warpt but first get the car to wheel alignment and get them to have a look at caster and thrust angle
my second thought is try and run through all the suspension and rod bolt/nuts including your steering rack it might simply be a loose nut causing play...
is there any pull to left or right when you let go of the steering wheel?
