Yeah! Thats my aim. Ordering some sleaving ect to redo the harnesses. So even If I don't completely hide the wiring at least itll look good.

ok so here is something I've been toying with...

I'm throwing out the ABS... so thats a step it the erm well right direction I hope...

now I've come across this a couple of months back, but didn't think I'd go for it...

This is a brake booster delete option.:

Image

Now I've read and done a bit of searching and most people say the cant seem fault with this mod. You just need to get used to the brakes feel. Its gonna need more physical power to stop, but with larger diameter discs and uprated calipers it shouldn't cause a issue...
Now what do the tech okes think. Will you do this? its gonna save me a load of space, look better and possibly even help with the tidying up of the brake lines.

U dont need the wilwood master cyl, can just use std one and remove the booster. Drive the car without the vacume pipe conected to the booster, and feel if u can handle the hard brakes.
I use no booster on my track car, but the brakes are hard. Bigger discs would be a good upgrade with out a booster.

Alrighty...

So time for a little update again.

So... the block has been honed, ACL bearings is in... cranks been fitted... 3 of the 4 pistons is in with new rings... head has been skimmed and valves cut. Tomorrow its the valve stem seal fitment and and refitment of the valve springs ect... Saturday the SR is going to be completely put back together again. :D

Cant wait!!

Oh bought a set of 750cc injectors(thanx brendan) so that will go in end of sept.

Also buying a semi complete motor from Andre_sx... Started to think it might be wise to keep a spare motor, in case shit happends, and it always happens :P

So ja.

Thats all for now folks!

oooh, getting exiting now

you doing all the work urself right?
what sort of mechanical background or expirience do you have that you could completely rebuild ur SR (along with everything else like doing the golf swap, mary's ca swop etc)?

thats one thing i'm striving for is to oneday do it all myself
thats where my new project comes into play in the future

hehe thanx :)

Yip most of it. The head skim I couldn't do myself though hehe. but the rest I did yes.

Well thats the thing I didn't have much of a mech background... yes I serviced a few cars and so on... but nothing like a motor swap or rebuild.

It started with me pulling out my CA and it just went on from there. I spent hours on the internet, doing research and reading the fsm... and ja I think the main thing that made me rebuild my own motor was that I didn't wanna pay some stupid mechie to screw something up... at least if something breaks now I can only blame it on myself. :P

Thing is... I've always like cars, I like working on them and learning about them. Also I like helping out my friends. the VW swap was interesting as I've never worked on one and also learned how to wire a gotech. as with Mary... well ja... She's one of my best friends, she drives a SX and well she's Mary...

Its just one of those thing, I like doing stuff myself... then I can say if someone asks or compliments my car that I did all this myself. and be proud of it:)

Thats awesome dude! I would really say to anyone who has the time and patience to learn, do things yourself its just so much more gratifying. You'll see with your new project ;)

yeah dude, you said it 8)

its good to hear that your "self taught", all through research and learning the factory service manual.

i think thats a good start, the amount of time i spend learning and searching things over then net and forums help alot, and i think getting the factory manual for the car and going through that is a good start.

inspiring dude :D keep it up, this is giving me motivation, once i decide on what car i'l be using for my track project i wana at least do most of the work myself, or at least learn and attemp trying

shot

now if you did the head skimming yourself that would be hella impressive
