CAS issues

Post by Andrew.200SX »

Can someone please give me some advice.

I removed the CAS on the CA18DET and front cover just to check the condition of the timing belt , when I loosened the front cover , I realised that the guide that is suposed to be on the back of the cover isn't there . My heart was in my throat , I put the cover back loosely , put in the CAS and turned the motor by hand for a few turns so that the CAS would hopefully centralise itself. Locked the only cover bolts that were there, prayed and turned the key..... snapped the shaft on the CAS.

I am going to go and buy another CAS this morning (hopefully) but how the hell am I going to fit it without snapping the shaft again ?

Should I leave the cover slightly loose so that it shifts into position when I start the car ? If anyone has a better idea please let me know.

Thanks guys
