RB25SX confirmed its about R30k for the RB26DETT with gearbox, maybe R28k with him negotiating a bit.

I'm really considering it.

S13 RB26DETT 280kw :) :) :) :)

"Bang for buck" @ R22K you can not beat a RB26DETT, doesnt matter what anyone says. People look at R22K for an engine and think its a lot. Add turbo, manifold, injectors to any of the other motors and u are over R22K, and for that u get a reliable, resposive 280-300kw
Is that 280-300KW from the RB26DETT as you buy it @ R22K ??
Yes (flywheel kw), mine made 260kw, 396nm @ .7 bar in base tune, another std one made 300kw at Ferroli, maxing(440cc) injectors @ about 1 bar. I would say safe 280kw on a std RB26DETT.
Like you say, R22K is a Steal. Do they come with Gearbox @ that price ?

remember the cost of installing a RB engine. Sr20 is a very good engine.

Thats doing the work yourself ?

What have you done to the motor ? parts, power wanted etc

stock RB internals with the right bolt ons will get you to 350kw .As mentioned it will cost you R40-R50K to drop a RB25 into a SX for a stock setup @180kw+-

Some food for thought ,I was chatting to a guy the other day who has a very strong SR20 who kills supercars ,He said to me that if he had to do it all over again he would stay with a Garret GT28 bb with stock internals ,He recons that was the most fun he had with the car , It becomes scary after that as you are VERY fast

It depends what you want  Keep the SR20 for 250kw ,It will be light ,smooth and fun ,RB25 is none of the above   but 350kw with bolt ons and for extra R40K.

a While ago there was one (think red) in S&Sound, very nice conversion, had a T66 single turbo on.
The only thing about RB26 is the sump, have to mod the AWD sump, or replace with normal sump.

I know a guy up here who's running a RB26, he uses it for drag racing. In street trim he does 12.4 on the 1/4mile with a slipping clutch(800hp nismo).
According to him if he have to do it all over again he'll use a SR. Hes done some serious modding to try and get the weight distribution right but with little success.

man I'm torn - this car is going to be my daily drive, plus some drags and occasional Drifting. I'm a massive petrol head, so the RB26 is just screaming at me to do it, but I could get the same 280kw out of the SR20DET for the same money and have better weight distribution (The SR20DET is the S13 original from the car, not a transplant). Do I really want to go further than 280kw, even with the RB26 ?

Is the heavy Nose with an RB26 a real contentious issue ?

Opinions/Comments ?

I don't think its the weight as such more the distribution of it. With a six you've got to much weight in front of you front axle. In a S14 its apparently a whole deferent story.
