Mini update - Motor now completely dismantled. Piston no1 looks not so good... oil on top, and bad scuff marks on the one side... strange thing is the sleeve look and feels 100% will take a pic tomorrow.

Next on the to do list:

Sending the head in for checking ect.
Clean block and pistons
Get new timing chain
fit rings and bearings
reassemble motor

Make sure the guys know what hey are doing with the head. If they cut the valve seats, the shims on top of the valves have to be checked for the right clearance.

haha, nah no refund, just a trade in for a RB :P hehehe

well It might be. basically cleaning everything this week, next week I'll send in the head. to get check out and then rebuild.. so might just make it for the trackday :D

@ wynand - Who would you suggest? I don't have a issue sending it away to get checked?

Not sure, the one head i had rebuild was a big problem to get the shimming right.
Just make sure who ever works on the head, knows what needs to be done. u actualy need a special tool that fits into the hydr lifter hole, to measure the rocker shim hight.

ok... so I'm a bit behind my own schedule...

but I've started to clean the components...

I'll post pics tonite

The Piston in cylinder one looks horrible. like it chewed on the sleeve of the block or something. and also has small dents on the top on the one side. What I also so was the conrod on piston 1 was different to the others. like a aftermarket one. so it seems the previous rebuild was due to #1 conrod going bust... think they used the old piston again so I think cylinder #1 might've been resleeved....

Now I need to still send the head in to get checked and I need to get a head gasket too... After that I can start reassembly... :D

Now for some good news. I've found a timing chain kit and some new lifters too. I also bought a stock SR conrod, just incase... dono the quality of the one that was in there... also a new set of thrust washers.

So now I have most of the parts... gonna clean the rest of the motor now, and start spraying it all nice like :D can anyone say stealth!

Its gonna go black.... the whole engine, block head intake everything. even the boost pipes! with a ice white engine bay :D can't wait!

Sounds like detonation marks on the piston. Might have to have your injectors tested to make sure it wasnt running lean.]
Head gasket u can get from DTM nissan in Strand.

yah... thats a bit dodgy... and they say its was Nissan Motorsport that rebuild this... eish... using a worn piston, non OEM conrod, and possibly not checking the head either 0_0
