Haywire speedo...

Post by Stephan »

hi

i have a problem with my speedo on my '93 S13. when standing still it lies all the way over to the right ie past the 240 mark. then as i increase the speed it moves counter clock wise and at about 100km/h it sits at 200km/h.

even if i got quicker it will only go up to tthat point...

if you hit a bumpy section it will sometimes jump back to the correct position but as soon as you accelerate over 120km/h it does it's own thing again...

this tells me it is in the electronics or wiring. any ideas???

speedo could be one of the following..

1. speedo gear in gearbox, R280 from nissan
2. sensor in gb, nissan will make u broke, try find second hand.
3. speedo unit it self, go for after market one, autostyle has nice range for abour R500+ (this was my problem, i have now changed every thing to match, they just dont have and wont have the feul level guage to match the rest of my smoked guages. dang)
4. Dry joint, Costs Rtime.00 and major foul vocabulary.

good luck

can you take some pics of what you did?

this has crossed my mind before. you could then build up a whole console to the spec that you want it. should look trick if done right...
There are three easy ways of losing money - racing is the quickest, women the most pleasant, and owning an SX the most certain.

Hi PAKIMONSTER, welcome to the club first off.

Ye I will take some and post them in a project sometime. Still waiting for my car to come back from Racing Boys though, it's been there for the last 3 months almost now....

Does look the nutz... Everything just looks like dark circles untl you turn on the ignit. Then the whole thing blowz up into 3D color.

Sofar I have the following changed
1. Tacho (3 3/4")
2. Speedo (3 3/4")
3. Boost Guage (2")
4. Water Temp(2")
5. Oil Press. (2")
6. Voltimeter (2")
7. Fuel Guage (Only one with white face) (2")

Still need to get
1. AF Ratio (2")
2. Oil Temp (2")
3. Exhaust Gas (2")

Just dunno where to put them all.... Can only fit 2 X 3 3/4" & 4 X 2" into standard space but looks cluttered.
