sound dampeners why ?

Post by Cyris »

just a quick question, why do some SX owners remove the sound dampeners before doing the interior for a full drift or drag machine ?

if you are talking about the sound deadening material in the doors and such, i think its removed purely for weight saving..

yip thats it sound deadening, its like black paint if im not mistaken that they scrape off, i cant see how that adds alot of weight, cos their interiors are aleady stripped bare, but then again you always get guys going the extra mile for weight reduction lol

It adds weight because its not just paint, its thick heavy sheets of tar board or similar dense material.

The other thing is that water can sometimes work its way under the sound deadening and cause the metal underneath to rust away.
