Plastic Pipe From Panel Filter

sup guys just a quick question, can i remove this pipe and run the panel filter open with that hole on the side open or can i still run the pipe without that little mini box, and what is that box and how important is it ?

Where is that pipe from?? I have never seen that pipe on a SX before.

lol nah its from my Sentra i dont know what the purpose of that little box is, this is the pipe that runs from the Box Panel where the panel filter sits.

just thought i`d ask around maybe someone will know ...

I think it's a resonator, my civic had one, it's to reduce noise, car was a bit louder after i removed it.
