Mine is a very long story! Lets not go there!

Basic swap can not take longer than 4 - 6 weeks! If all is smooth sailing! If done yourself it will be allot sooner!

any1 whoes done this, if you have the time is there any chance you could give me a put together parts list with prices,roughly, just for a stock S14 Sr20DET, i need to kinda see what budget i need, would appreciate it,thanks, also, any idea what a place like dynotech would charge for this swap,labour wise, like if i had all the parts for the install,thanks.

What u can do is order urself this DVD, it is from overseas. If you own an SX u'll suddenly find urself buying alot of shyte over the net. IMO, you're not gona get a rough price cos any motor swop is gona run into it's own unique list of probs and issues. You may find when you're done you've gotten tired of the stock power output, then ur gona mod some more. So your list is probably not gona end. Also, try reading about these swops on international forums. Who knows, u may just chuck the SR swop and go RB

took me over a year as well...

but then i lost interest, got demotivated, etc.

i reckon if you have everything you need - you could rush it in a weekend or two. if you play it by ear and do everything yourself it could take up to 6 months.

ya, i am very motivated now, but i think the best thing to do, is to first get everything together that i will need for the swop, source and buy evrything, and then only start the actual swopping process, i just think this will make things alot smoother, wot u guys think?is there no 1 that can give me a list of parts and local prices of the parts needed for this swop?plz guys, thanks.

thats the best idea you've posted on this forum. get EVERYTHING first, then start.

here's your list:
engine
gearbox
management
boost pipes
exhaust
and most importantly...

PATIENCE.

remember an sr20det is a bolt-in affair, bar a few small things like the management system and the slight difference in angles on the downpipe (compared to the ca18). all the rest is up to you, but go for some basic bolt-ons too. you wont be sorry.

and get a fuel pump while you at it.

I tried to get hold of them and left messages but never got a call back so i cut my losses and moved on to Ferroli ,Another story all together

If you can get hold ofAllie then go for it

Keep the ca18 until the end of the convertion just in case ,I think you do need a few parts

mmm.... where should I begin...

Ok well first off like most of the dudes said.

Motor - R6k
Box - R3k
Down pipe - R1k
exhaust - R2.5K
fuel pump - R1.2k
IC and piping - R3.5k
CA Aircon motor - R500
Radiator and piping - R1k
electric fan/s - R500 (cheapies)
Heater piping - R300
Turbo oil feed lines - R500+-
S14 AFM or Z32 if possible - R1k+
CA speed sensor - R0 - of your old box
stock wiring loom - R1k
Turbo - R1k-R14k
water pump - R500 - R1k

+- R25k without labour...

erm... think thats about it...

then labour... thats where it starts to get hairy.... I did the swop myself so no labour charge haha

rings... depending where you got the motor, but its always a good thing to check.

mmm ok... so now its management... I'm running stock S14 management.

Best will be to get a stock S14 harness and then go from there with the likes of dictator etc.

The other things to check on is the gearbox wiring. check that the neutral switch is wired correctly and that you have a CA Speed sensor in the box, otherwise it will under read by around 30-50% thus effectively doing 120km/h in a 60 zone

For me the wiring was the worst part of the job. the motor was in in just under a week but the wiring took me ages... I actually ordered a DVD from the states to get the wiring done.

The rest is pretty much drop in... gearbox works on same mounts, propshaft fits exactly, motor fits on the CA mounts. and the motor clears everything.

I did the swap myself... my car was standing for a year too. but if I had everything I needed before I did the swap I would;ve done it in a 1/8th of the time....

I did everything myself with alot of help and advice from the guys on and off the forum.

and today its running. not yet 100% but its running. haha

Gimme a shout if you wanna have a look at the swop. or if you need advice.

Will check if there is anything else that i missed...

Buy all the parts before u start the conversion, will save u a lot of time.

Like RB25SX said. get all the stuff first. it cut down on the install time a crap load.

my install only took me so long cause I live in hermanus and I didn't have everything I needed....
