Coil question?

Post by Speedy »

Hi there all,

I just replaced my ca18det in my car and when I fired it up,the car was missing on cilinder 1.I don't know much about these coils,so I need some advise.

When I take the coil on the cilinder and pick it up by about 5mm the coil sparks changes from the sparkplug to the coils chassis,it passes the cilicone part over the plug and runs up to the chassis.Does this mean the coil is leaking and not work correctly?

I then took the cilicone part of,placed the coil back in place, started and the car,and the I could see the spark on the back of the sparkplug, but still no go.I then bought another plug just to see if that plug was not a dut,but the car still misses. Now I'm starting to wonder if the injector is working?
So if someone can tell me what to check or test, please. When it gets to electrical stuff,I don't know much.

thanks all,

speedy

Swap the coil with one from another cylinder and see if the problem moves with the coil. Also try unplugging connection to each coil one at a time to be sure which cylinder is missing.
