Throttle body sensor

murphy that fukka!!! he got me too!!
last night decided that i couldn't go to wesbank with a car that wont cooperate, so i was going to "fix" it. so i did...
i checked the TPS first. it was sending the "idle on" signal at its current configuration. so using the multimeter, i repositioned it so that at the idle position of the throttle it sends the "idle on" signal, and at any point above idle - it doesn't. sorted right???... the miss on idle was gone and the responsiveness of the engine was vastly improved - but that was probably because it was now firing on 4 cylinders again!!!
but still it was strange - because it looks like the TPS is set all the way back now!!!
also - i then checked the timing after the car was warmed up. it was way way out - like it was set to 40 degrees advanced or something. before the TPS was changed it looked normal - at about 15 degrees.
so i reset the timing to 15 degrees - and the car is now idling perfectly smooth, and seems to accelerate nicely (although thats under no load) i never managed to go out to check it on the road.
but again - it still strange because the CAS is now set to the full retarded position. how can it be at 15 degrees advanced if the CAS is set to full retard.
my opinion is that the belt cannot be set up correctly - and that i will be taking all the belts and covers off this evening so that i can make 100% sure that the timing marks on the belts and pulleys and everything is 100% perfect. then i will check again.
anyone think of anything else???

picture this:
i touch my index finger to my thumb.
i put the three other fingers straight up.
i then bring that hand towards my face, and...
stick my nose through the circle it my fingers have made.
that spells "fcuk nose".
anyway - not sure, all i am sure of is that i am not happy with my stoopid engine and all of its stoopid electrics.
maybe i should buy two dellorto sidies, and blow through them, so that i can throw out all of those electrics!!!

Thanks for the picture.....ya the electrics, the plugs....I replaced my plugs friday night with other plugs I tested for a day or two and then took it out, on the way back from wesbank on saturday I noticed a miss on about 4500 revs, I then replaced it again with other just to see what happens, now the miss is down low, about 2500 revs.....
I am going to change it again tonight to see what happens next.

lol - when my car gets hot now, like on a trip from randburg to edenvale, which happened yesterday, my car wont do anything else but idle.
it used to misfire and all that, now it just drives perfectly until hot, then only idles. its difficult to drive when it only idles!!!
i can have my foot flat, and it goes whup wait whup wait whup wait (like a slomo rotary) and wont go over 1k rpm!!!
burn it i say!!!

at the moment i'm not sure if i can get to the event with the sx.
it might, but then what do you do if it doesnt.
i dont even think the free towing service from dial direct could help, because the car is too low, they probably couldn't get their equipment under it!!!
