I guess what it really comes down to is how much are you willing to spend?

Stand alone is expensive... the cost of the unit is one thing... Getting fitted/tuned is a total other thing... That bit me in the arse 8) But I'm not disappointed so far.

I think in the Nismo Forums we discussed this and you can budget for R8K-R10K, where on a piggy back maybe half that?? but then what system are you gonna use?

The microtech is not that expensive, the LT10S with the ignitor is R8500. Installing it is easy, it uses all the factory sensors, so no mods needed on my engine. It comes with a nice wiring diagram and a very good base map, not just a startup up. Only thing I don't like about it, it's not a universal system, you can't remove it and fit it on another engine, you have to send it back to be modified.

But like you said, it depends on how much $$$ you have. I would have like a Motec, but that's for the rich and famous. Microtech have proven themselfs on piston engines and rotaries.

XMS is a very very good system, I would've used it if I was going to stick with a NA motor. It's got so much functions that you can even tune you wife if you wanted to.

If I had to choose, I would look into Apexi super AFC II(for fuel only) or the Power FC, they are quite nice and a lot of Nissan guys use them or you can even look at Greddy's emanage, very good but then again $$$.

I did buy a Microtech LT10S that came of a CA18DET... It was only R3000 secondhand real bargain... Before the guy shipped it too me, he mailed me and said someone offered him more and cash in hand... so he just sent back my money :x

But it was good since the Wolf3D is a very very close Direct fit...

I like the wolfsystem, only problem I had with it is aftermarket service. Not sure if it's improved. That time only Andre sold it. The new V500 looks the business.

Andre is leaving to AUS to work for wolf, he is busy selling the dealership. V500 is great but at R12 000.00 its big bucks. V400 will do everything you need, my car is running super smoothe with it.

I know it's beter to use a combination of the 2, I just prefer to use tune with more map site and just compenstae a bit with the tps to get a smoother ride and idling. Show many other performance tuner that will map a performance turbo car with tps and just use 16 map sites to compensate for boostpressure, 99% of systems that's setup to work that way is for NA and the 16 map sites is just to compensate for altitude. I guess that's why it takes so long to tune it, because to get the best out of it you have to tune it for you base TPS matix with like 0bar boost and then start by increasing boost and then just add the factor needed in the map site to increase the fuel needed but then that one factor is used for your whole TPS matrix, and that makes for a very linear setup , it'll work if your engine has a VE 0f 100% from idle to topend. But no engine works that way, so the factor will be set where the engine is at it's highest VE because that's whre it would've been the leanest, so where the engine is not at it's best VE it will run rich, not by much, but it will.

That's why I decided to go with the Microtech MT10S with the 4X ignitor box. There you can use just map or tps or a combo. I always tune with Map as by base setup and just compensate with the tps for normal driving.

Full racecars I don't even hook up the TPS.

I believe the answer to your question is the above line.

What ever dude, you might be suprised at how much I really know, that description I gave was just a basic thing, but it doesn't matter, I don't want to start shit because I'm against it, that's one of the main reasons I originally wanted to get out of "cars". Politics.

Lets leave it this.

oh, I checked the forum at efi101. There's a lot of guys that agree with both of our tuning methods.

http://www.efi101.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... =turbo+tps

But one thing I saw is the way he says to tune TPS turbo cars, like I said, start at 0 and work up.
