Dead boost

Post by Drillergy »

Hi guys

Need some help.

After I fitted the new turbo as my old one had float and was scraping the exhaust housing and smoking.

Anyways, I notices my low and mid torque is dead. It doesnt pull like it used to.

My full boost seems to only come in at 4200rpm, I still have the standard exhaust system which needs to be upgraded and I noticed that the twin pipe back box, one of them isnt pushing out that much pressure as the other one...Could this be the problem?

Its really weak from take off to 2800rpm.... Any advice :?:

Hi...at long last...you installed the turbo!!!!

You will need to re-tune the car...you have a new turbo with bigger exhaust housing and so on...as for the exhaust you suspect....get that sorted by going for the right exhaust....1 box....76mm although 63 will do, but you going to replace it in anyway so go 76...

Its a stock one I had in my garage, I got it from of VC's contacts some time back, when I had a look at the turbo it was in very good condition.

When my tuner saw it he was also very impressed with it, cos it looked like it was new but it was bolted to the Stock CA manifold.

Sorry to disappoint you Draco, but its not the T28/T3 (as yet).

I would probably do FMIC and 76mm Zorst before I fit that turbo.... :?

I think its the hot air being sucked from that kak cone filter. Think its time for a make shift cold air induction.

hmmm... that was a stock t25 right?

so it should behave like a stock t25. or like your old turbo did.

have you double-checked all the seemingly insignificant things, like leaks from exhaust gaskets, cracked exhaust housings, positive seal on the wastegate, oil feed line to the turbo...

and my alltime favorite - cos this happened to me with the first engine i had when i bought my sx - so much friggin firegum near the turbo that it caked when it got hot, came unstuck from the manifold, and got stuck between the turbo blades and the turbo housing, basically preventing the turbo from spinning at all!!!

lol - stupid SAC!

have you checked the exhaust housing....my T25 had a AR48 exhaust housing, Freddies had a AR 58 or 64...can't remember but it was bigger than my standard one....

Not saying that is your problem....maybe....

I thaught you were already sorted with FMIC.... :?

SAC Sucks, they wanted to charge me R12 000,00 for a head gasket change only and they have their own engineers in VanderBijl Park.

Anyways, I found a thin pipe that was out by the turbo and I put it back in but I think I should put a small cable tie or clamp to hold it.....

And now I cooked my brake fluid in my clutch system so I have to do a flush.

SX is like the movie Never Ending Story!

a thin pipe?

like a vacuum pipe? to the wastegate perhaps?
