Noob exhaust help!

Post by denoSX »

Hi i got my sx 5 days now and i am amped:D. I've just joined the forum but i've been reading it for weeks searching for advice before i bought my car, and i must say this forum is really helpful!

I had my car serviced today @ OPD in ct and i was told the exhaust is blowing and the boxes are vrekking , (its a really Shite/cheap 63mm the previous owner fitted).

NOW ive read 76mm is the way to go(especialy for future mods) but i was also told you get more lag. Ive also been given advice by 2 sx owners that 63mm is also A way to go, so does 63mm give less turbo lag. Is there a big difference in performance betw 63mm & 76mm, lag vs power.

The size is one issue and then who to fit, wildcat seems to be tried and trusted, i also spoke with Amien @ STO tuning/evolution exhausts he also suggested 76mm(altho its R3600&no downpipe). What other tried and trusted places would u guys recomend in Cape Town!?

My car is pretty much stock, it has a boost gauge, shitty 63mm and NO engine mods FOR NOW

Wlecome Deno, Im also here in Cape Town.

Go with a 76mm exhaust if you are planning on future. And you WILL do future mods, these cars just know how to press your buttons!

You will hardly feel a difference regarding lag, so dont worry about that! The power will make a huge difference, especially the torque. If you like loud cars go for one box at the back only (freeflow). If not, do one at the back and also in the middle.

Make sure it is a mandrel bent system, otherwise its a waste, I wished I saved up more money for a decent system.......

Evolution is a good bet, that price is a very good price if its Stainless steel!

Goch and Cooper is also a great bet!

Powerflow's good service, unfortunatly they dont do mandrel bends and struggle with stocking 76mm stainless pipe.(they only do stainless)

When doing your exhaust go and do the downpipe at the same time! Trust me it will give you even horses.....

If you really can splash cash on a exhaust do a aftermarket turbo outlet (devided pipe or screamer pipe). Screamer is very load when on full boost but it sounds INSANE! Check on youtube!

PM if you need any help. I got loads of CA18DET parts......

Howzit

And welcome to the club, The best exhaust for any turbo car is no exhaust at all but due to regulations and the metro's we are not really allowed to do this.

a 78mm is a better opinion and will not effect turbo lad at all it might even allow the car to spool quicker

unless you put some black stripes over the top, not that much hey.

but then again, it is a white sx - you dont need anymore HP - the white ones are the fastest!

Widow....don't start again....rooi is mooi.....you wouldn't like it if you havn't tried it....

With the exhaust upgrade you would look in the region of 5-10 wkw depending on engine condition and turbo, there have been reports of more but that was because of retuning with timing petrol and boost.
