Post by S13 8port »

Can any one tell me what is the best head to use on the S13? The standard 4 port or the 8 port which comes with the japanese import motors?

Um this has been covered.

But the run down is yes the 8 port give’s you more low down torque with the solenoid system enabled but does not flow like the 4 port at higher RPM’s also the injector placed on one intake port is said to cause valve burning on the non cooled valve and not enough consistent fuel mixing causing a slight drop in power.

I have never seen a SA SX with the 8 port solenoid system, and with the butterfly’s gamed open there is no hope of gain any noticeable torque increase and air flow will suffer at higher RPM’s plus the butterfly’s will cause a slight restriction, If placed on vacuum the benefits are slightly better considering but no where close to the correct system

The fact is this most people in euro and Aus when pushing for a lot of power from the CA18DET they look for a 4 port head. Don’t get me wrong the 8 port can make power but I don’t think its any better then the 4 port in anyway , I personally lean to it being worse

Yes this have been covered

google it, all suggest the 4 port, the thing that is bothering me is all these answers are posted by guys on forums, I am not aware of ingeneers that tested this and confirmed this.

I also lean towards the 4 port but that is because of posts made on forums on the net, I am taking the word of some guy on some forum, I would just feel better if there is some sort of scientific tested proof.

You don't find anything resembling a proper test like testing the 2 heads on a flow bench :x
