I probely yust had a bad experience and therefor i cant say its a bad product, but its stil bullshits your ecu in order to operate. Mines for sale buy the way(the small grey one).
thinking of a dastek unichip

Draco you know i had a unichip on in stalled by dastek themselfs, the only thing that increased was my feul consumption. I took the kak of adjusted the timing and feul pressure a bit and its like driving a diferent car all together. Im yust saving up thaen im going for the nistune option(makes a lot more sense). I understand your unichip worked well for you but that will differ from car to car and setup to setup. Even our feet size differ.

I do agree that nistune looks like a great product, just a question....why are both products chips but the one differs from the other in what it does....?
Nistune is not a chip, It kind of like a daughter board that interfaces with you stock ECU hardware allowing full control of timing, fueling, fuel recover maps, Datalogging of all parameters. I would love to Dastek do data logging HA HA HA HA but I am getting sick of repeating it capabilities.

So why are you then? You know this all boils down to your attitude and how you try and make your point that is why you are obtaining so much grief on your posts.Pinkfluffybunnys wrote:I do agree that nistune looks like a great product, just a question....why are both products chips but the one differs from the other in what it does....?

O ok.....they must be wrong....
they are both daughter boards(fully functioning computer & daughter boards).....chips.....
NistuneThe UNICHIP gives the properly trained technician full control over the timing and mixture functions of most electronically controlled vehicles. Not only can mixtures and timing be set, but also it can be set under various load and RPM conditions. This gives one the ability to optimise the vehicle for economy under light load conditions and set it up for optimum performance under full-throttle conditions.
The UNICHIP is much more than just a "chip". In actual fact it is a fully functioning computer which is added to the vehicle’s existing engine control unit (ECU). Apart from controlling general timing and mixtures it can do idling control, drive extra injectors, take full control over timing functions
Seems to me both are a bit the same, nistune seems to be more advanced and a great product!!!!! but.....basics is the same.....NIStune uses emulators or one of our daughter boards along with our specialised software to provide tuning capabilities including map tracing and real time editing of maps, constants and tables for your Nissan ECU. All changes are made in real time so you can feel the engine change and watch the outputs from the all sensors while adjustments are made

Dude on the level that they interface with the hardware you can’t even compare them.
Plus the fine control is not even the same Dasteks pitch sound like a damn infomercial, But how can the chip have such fine control when it still relays on the input of an ECU that most tuner don’t even know the fuel curves of the CA18 or SR20 Ecu’s.
As for "Ero_sennin " Post, Im sick of sugar coating my stuff so people feel all warm inside. If you don’t like the way I’m saying it then don’t read them this isn’t an episode of care bears he ask a question and based on my knowledge I will be as honest as I can, If you don’t like my personality then put up with it. I put up with your

Do you know what the latest unichip can do......do you know the what hardware and software upgrades were made on the latest?Dude on the level that they interface with the hardware you can’t even compare them
PFB, I know you know alot about stuff, but please, don't try and bluff yourself or us, if it comes to the technical info with which these things are made and how precisely it works and what it does, neither me or you have a clue.
Both interface with the standard ECU, as I said, Nistune is more advanced, basics are still the same.

Don’t assume, because last time I checked you didn’t install a NIStune system or remove a couple of uni-chips, you haven’t tuned the fueling of your car or the timing done or the fuel\timing set-up for someone else or installed bigger injectors or AFM’s, You have no real knowledge of the CA18 or how the stock units work, or the wiring that the Uni’s used that I removed, if you read the same books I have you wouldn’t be arguing about how the unit interface’s or haw they work.
I’m sitting with an SX self tuned returning 10liter per 100Km and great boost response and power,So don’t Assume because you make an @ss out off yourself. So far based on the people that have posted in this topic I have the best knowledge with regards to the ECU, like I said I’m not the best I’m not even close but the guys on this forum need to catch a wake up because all I wanted to do was share my knowledge you are pushing the guys in the know away because your not happy with what they have to say, You guys are closed you don’t want to LEARN you don’t want to accept the fact that your wrong you don’t want to take responsibility for you actions as well.
Seriously it’s a forum it’s about information if you want to argue about the stupid stuff Fine, But this topic has Been a Fine example of the childish arguments that go on here, I frequent a lot of forums and we are the only place where childish stuff like this happens. Rezlo was not arrogant, Hennie was not arrogant they just knew what the hell they where talking about and got sick of arguing with the students. If you know me and I mean personally spoken to me you guys would know I am happy to share all my information.

Your car responds the way it does largely to the "mechanical" upgrades and you have a great chip managing it!!!
Always good chatting to you

Guys I think ... just chill out. No ones wrong and no ones right. Its Friday.
Plus I think we need respect and a bit of tolerance. OR just drop it and move on.
And Poizen, do your research on both and make a decision...
I hear good things bout dastek and bad things but remember is its bad stuff about a company thats spreads like wild fire and ppl are quick to shoot it down.
Just my 2c

''enough rice to feed whole of china''
I was not arguing....I was having a meaningful conversation and lifted my opinion, then my opinion became the object of prejudice towards a unichip, I was not even saying unichip was better
.....somehow that always happens, rather than lifting your "expert" opinion, you try and discredit someone elses.
I mean it is as easy as....I say...I like an appel, then someones says, I prefer grapes, it's easier to eat and it contains all the sugar you need.
The way it works here is...I say.... I like an appel, then the kid next to me says, appels @ss, it does not taste as sweet as grapes, I know more...your an idiot
and so on and so on.....
Such is the days of our lives.
I am happy like chemcool
Poizen, if you decide to use the unichip, let Maus Performance install and map it, I don't like them or their attitudes but they are the best I know of with a unichip.
If you do a nistune, PFB will show you how
