Aircon gas.

Post by HancoB »

Ok so its getting really nice and hot down here in CT and you want your aircon to work.

Point is...it doesn't.

Now I know its the gas, but when I went to the guys who refill the aircon they said they aren't allowed to refill it since it uses the "old gas" which they are not allowed to sell anymore.

Then I asked them well why dont you refill it with the "new gas" then, and they said then your aircon wont work anymore!
(they also said they can "upgrade" my aircon to use the new gas which will cost me R1500)

So what is the truth behind this? Is it a money making scheme? Who has done their aircon with the "new gas" and does it still work?

What is your point of view on this?

So what you say is that roll down your windows...open your sunroof and take out the aircon to save the weight(and fuel)...

So you say its not worth the R1500 to change your aircon system to the new one? Just flush and refill with the new gas and have colder air rushing over your face?

I have the s14 .Heard about that old and new gas too. I had mine topped up with the new stuff. Guess it was all fine . Noticed the heat gauge started to climb though . Especially on the highway while cruising . Weird . Just drive without it now .

Wish everything could just work already . Cape Town definately gettin warmer .
