Sunny to Overcast- A Smoking SX story

Post by Drillergy »

Hi Ppl

I need some help, my SX S13 is smoking on idle ALOT.
It used to happen when I gun it on 5th gear at 5500RPM and let go of the throttle it used to smoke but recently its smoking heavy on idle.

Im sure its the turbo thats causing it as its about the right ammount of milage for it to give up.

If I open one of the boost pipes and check for alot of oil, would this be an indication that the Turbo is going?
I dont want to put the stock turbo if it is the case, and Im thinking of a T28.
If I put the T28, Do I HAVE to put a chip or management or will the stock ECU handle this or compensate for it?
Im not gonna boost wild

Budget is tight....holiday??? SX???holiday???SX????
I wanna do both!!!!

Also I heard the T28 is a bolt on turbo, are all T28's bolt ons or are there specific ones that are bolt-on.

Know anyone in JHB who will do the work for me????

In a nutshell it sounds like the turbo, the boost pipes wont nessesarily have oil in them if its the exhaust side seals of the turbo, then hot oil leaks directly into the exhaust and smokes.

T28 is a direct bolt on and you shouldnt need management if you keep stockish boost, but its recommended to have some sort of fuel alteration to get the max out if the new turbo.
