Post by Jay_boy »

ok guys i did some searching and found guys that will make copper head gaskets for us in any thinkness you want from 1.2mm up to 4mm, for R500 a peace witch is not bad, taking in that lima racing at westbank wants to charge me R850 for the same thing? They but it with water yet so its precise! Anyone interested drop me a line :-) ps if i put in a order of more than 10 the price goes down :-)

Guys I send stuff for laser and water profiling all the time. The accuracy on a water jet is 0.3mm and a laser is 0.2mm, which means that the hole they cut can be up to 0.6mm too big or small. If you want to give this a shot I will be able to get it profiled in any thinkness for next to nothing. I will put it through my work, get 25% discount and pay no VAT.

I am not sure on the level of accuracy needed for head gaskets, but those are the facts.

Oh BTW the thicker the material the more of a taper the water will cut.

Copper gaskets can leak, so make sure you use silicone around the water jackets. It's also best when used with steel orings in the block and head. Oh and don't forget to make sure the copper is soft before fitting it.
