Well, we have 3 quad bikes!Enzio wrote:Unless you want to kill yourself - don't.Draco wrote:I am actually considering quad bikes....
I love my bike, but will not get on a quad - nothing will break your ankles or your neck quicker.
Rather buy a trackday superbike - very fast and way safer than a quad. I've seen newish model ZX6's and CBR600 trackbikes for around R30k.
And before I get complaints about how that's possible - if you know anybody who has been in a quad accident you will know what I'm on about.
Raptor 660 - bored out to a 700cc. Actually build for road use! Nice for drifting in town! Actually have tyres for the road!
LTZ 400 - Nice learner quad bike! But not there for performance! Fast when you never quad biked before, but still ripped a new asshole for the Banshee's
Ltr 450 - Chipped with a performance exhaust! Fu*& me! That thing is strong! Scares the shit out of me! Fell with it 4 weeks ago and Im still sore! But I did roll it on a motorcross track! Did a jump, was about 3 meters in the air when the quad started turning side ways in the air! Tire pressures wasnt equal, I forgot to check the pressure! Threw me off and rolled over me!
Nice experience, but I wont try that again soon!
Things with quads bikes. You have to be carefull with the right gear!
Nerve bars with netting is a must! Othewise you will break you ankles! And get proper boots! They cost around R1500 but its will save you ankle!
Motorcross pants and shirt and gloves! A must! You will have scuff marks for weeks if you dont! Decent helmet and goggles and the most important is a neckbrace!
Also safe up for a kill switch! Cause those quad bikes dont stop while the motor is running!
OH, and piece of advice, when you fall of a quad bike, roll, kick or jump as far from the quad bike! Cause it will drive or roll over you! That is way quads are so dangerous!
I get about 90km/h on the 450. Imagine falling and it rolling over you at that speed! The secret is in the safety equipment!
My 2cents!
