Daniel why don't you get ACL bearings instead? They're around R500 a set but you should get some peace of mind with it at the very least.
Also be very careful not to touch the surface area of the bearings at all. If you even breath too hard on those lead copper bearings you will create imperfections which can lead to bearing failure.
Oh and it goes without saying that you need to photograph and document the entire build on a thread off course
Good luck!

Not to cause any shit here, but going the cheap route is going to cost you more money in the long run.
Rather go ACL Race bearings, they are very very good!
8 months with no problems is just a drop in the bucket! Not saying your call will break, but you get what you pay for! And we all know that, it has been proven!

Before you all scream for freebee's its all gone boys...

D... The parts is pretty cheap... its the engineering that is expensive... I know you can get a lot done via your buddy, so you got that added bonus their too...
I always say get it done once get it done decently... get the motor balanced after the rebuild, you'll have a long running beauty
BTW: I couldn't get hold of oversize ACL Race bearings, but normal ACL's work just perfect and is my bearing of choice, we tried fitting some retro sh!t in Chem's motor, had to exchange them for ACL's because they wouldn't fit perfectly...
