A bit rich, sir??

Post by Enzio »

Hey guys,

So finally my motor is rebuilt. (Will up the pics of the motor and all of the sh&t that came out of my "shrinking pistons engine")

Everything is in and wiring is connected, just 3 things:
1) When the motor starts, it runs a little bit rich - as in belches out clean petrol at the exhaust. What could make the ecu decide to overfuel so heavily?? Breathers?? I did forget to reconnect the AFM  but after reconnecting the problem still persists.

2) I need the length/dimensions of the two bellhousing bolts at the top of the gearbox that turns into the back of the block. If anybody has a spare lying around that would also be a great help.

3) How can I set the timing? Will I need to use the special Nissan tool mentioned in the worshop manual or is there another way??

Plz help so that the thing can live again...

I think start by checking the ECU for fault codes, then you would have a relatively good idea where to start the fault finding.

Search the forum, there has been a whole post on the how to and codes for this.

OK, got error codes for knock sensor and TPS. Can understand the knock one but why there's a prob with TPS - I don't know. It appears as though one of the 3 wires in the plug is missing.....

Don't you justy love it when someone decides they know better than the manufacturer and just changes stuff...

Anyway - can anybody help with the length of the bellhousing bolts?

It could be the TPS then that's causing the over fuel, if a remember correctly there should be three wires, I think.

Sort out the knock sensor too, cause that would cause the ECU to retard the timing.

Im not sure about the bolts tho. :?

OK, the car starts and runs (Thanks again, PFB).

1) I still want to know the length of the 2 upper bellhousing bolts

2) The car starts perfect in the morning. But after it has started it doesn't want to start again - it overfuels - if I bend the fuel line closed with my hand the car starts....what could be the prob. All 4 cylinders have fuel (injectors work) and spark and the fuel pressure is right (set to std pressure according to FSM) and the timing is also set correctly (15deg).
