Buying A Import Motor
Guys just a quick question. Who has bought a motor from one of these import places like engine den etc. What is the quality and km's of these motors?
I do understand its a bit risky to buy from there. Any thoughts on this topic?

mine came from an import place...
outside was dirty but i thought it would be ok inside.
but it turned out they used the engine as the ships anchor, and the inside was fooked.
had to rebuild it. now its for sale (maybe).
go check my articles page for rebuild pics.

all those engines are black boxes... I've seen pics where guys open motors and they are unusable (Like VeeCee's)
Mine was a scruffy FWD motor, worked very nicely, Daniel has it now...
Ero's motor I bought and installed was OK looking (way better than mine), gave him heaps of problems with gaskets.
My buddy (Slade) have bought 2 corsa motors in the past couple of years, both worked nicely, the one just kept running bearings, ended up being a blocked oil feed.
I'll stick with this statement: Those motors aren't direct replacements, yes you are lucky if you can use them for XXXX KM, but I say its better to spend another R2K on them and rebuild them, and replace all gaskets... The good thing is you'll have 2 motors to use spares from.
