we suddenly got onto how PFB has absolutely no respect for any product made in south africa. that attitude actually makes me nauseas too gary!!!

the locally made gotech stuff is quickly gathering worldwide acclaim and getting better all the time. the dictator is new, and its developing all the time too!!!

and in the dictators defense - its really easy to use. i wish the gotech software was that easy!!!

and my biggest reason for liking it that much???

for the bits and pieces that keep your engine running (like fuel and timing and spark) you DO NOT have to stick to nissan parts. i dont have to buy a 300zx AFM at 1000-00 bucks for a used item. i can just use the MAP sensor that is shipped with the item.

i DO NOT have to buy a nissan CAS when mine fucks out (at over 4 grand). i can use a 60-2 wheel, or whatever other system is available to trigger the ecu.

i DO NOT have to buy nissan coils. i can run any damned coils i want to. actually a lot of people run hyundai coilpacks with their aftermarket systems.

i really like the fact that i dont have to ship at nissan for some engine parts!!! that makes the deal worth it!!!

Proudly South African (as long as you can afford the petrol  )

RBSX has got me to condsider a 1JZ motor over a SR. Thought behind it was a bigger engine with less stress. Would cost less than beefing up an SR motor to. Damn, [smilie=200sx_confused1.gif]

Good for you Veecee.

There are allot of “IF’s” in that statement but you can use what ever management system you want it’s your car and I not stopping in fact I don’t really care. Good luck with wiring the thing in and tuning I have read through the Gotech Pro and it offer around the same features as the stock ECU, But on the other hand I wont be able to use a Map sensor LOL but I will have a selection of great tuned “.Bins” from a number of big tuning houses like Mines, Norries and so on and I can get the Knock Map to save my ass should I have a bad tank a fuel.

I have all the nice Cold start stuff, I have deceleration charts to save fuel , I can change Dwell time on my coils should I swap to GM units so fell free it seems to be the only down side is the MAP sensor and I have given a solution , I will just plug my wideband in do a full “datalog” to fine tune any drops in the AFR

You know what, I am just going to back down on this and leave the forum with this go check out the Nistune website download the software and work on it then get you hands on the Gotech Software

Now look at your needs where and for what will the car be used for and make a decision if keeping the stock Nissan ECU, mind you probably with a Bigger AFM and injectors but with all the nice drivability and the easy tuning with good fuel economy or if installing an aftermarket system if its an all out race car that needs launch control, Shift lights and so on also remember there are other cost not based on the ECU its self like trigger wheels, Coils and so on that might need to be changed, Wiring, tuning if not done by yourself and the constant need to change the MAP should you make any mods that effect VE because of the Map sensor.

If you don’t have the stock system then it will be more expensive going this road ,if you do then in my eyes it’s a way better option then anything for the price range but have a look at the EVO and STI forums and sites most track day monster are using the stock systems because the R&D does not and can not compare to what most manufactures put into there systems it’s the best overall package

I agree with the fact that It is nice to have all the stock ECU functions and all, but its not always possible to keep the stock ECU ie: changing the ENGINE would require different management and if I am not mistaken this thread was started with different engines in mind.

True that Ero_sennin my Mistake. But most comment made where not about that fact but was focused on functions of each tuning system

Yea, i do sometimes wish I had the stock functionality of old ECU for certain little things, but hey the after market was necessary and has some bonuses.
