Suspension

the yellow 300zx has a n/a v6 init!!!
aslo - if you want softish suspension then you best stay away from coilovers, unless you maybe get the tein cruiser/GT type of suspension.
but if you're looking at anything like the tein street, drift, or anything like that then its going to be too hard!

+1 Koni are excellent quality dampers whereas Tein are only mid level Japanese coilovers. Do you really need coilovers, are you actually going to adjust your suspension for every different situation? If not then rather go for a good damper and spring combo like Koni or Bilstein.Hotstuff wrote:Give Steve Hurley at Koni a call too. He'll give you a good price on a set of Koni gas shocks with H&R springs for the application that might suit you.
Oh yes,... welcome to the forum.

Diesel power, hmm, yes, I think I'll have some of that.
probably..Ok but why are you in the V8 club then? or am I just being dumb?

on suspension, personally i have found eibach springs/bilstein shocks to be an excellent combo.. plus bilsteins are rebuildable so you should not have to buy a set of shocks again..

touche' - this club could be more "interesting"!300sx wrote:probably..Ok but why are you in the V8 club then? or am I just being dumb?nah just kidding.. the v8 club is not that strict about what you need to own to join.. all you need is a passion for cars. i joined them originally because they are quite an active club, with at least two events a month.. keeps it interesting

Where do you get Bilstin shocks in sa ?,Spoke to Koni today and Steve recommends the sport suspension but the problem is it is only 30 mm drop,I m so confused because i dont see myself spending a hour lowering the car on coilovers , very hard ride at 60 mm ,looks like i will have to sacrifice somewhere. What do you guys think?

no , you wont find bilies in sa, i imported mine.. just to clarify, i have the bilstein/eibach combo on my 300zx, on my s13 in have KYB AGX ajustables/lowering springs..
the KYB AGX ajust. is also a good shock, KYB is the oem suplier for nissan , so your s13 had KYB's in to start with.
as for springs, eibach is thought by many to be the best in the business.. they supply to many nascar ect. racing teams.
if you plan on using your car every day, dont drop to low, or else save up for new kidneys

Where did you pick up the KYB AGX springs & shocks? how much? and how low did it drop your S13?,Can you get them for S14?Sorry for all the question 300SX but i am looking for the best option available as the car needs to be low(for shows) but I still need my kidneys.

i imported the KYB's and springs, cost was about R4000-00 , drop is about 40mm (not happy with the springs though, gonna replace them with eibachs)
you can find them for s14 too, browse around ebay, or the many online shops willing to ship to sa...
if you dont want to import, here is what i would suggest : get a set of eibachs from CRS motorsports (they have a ad in the speed & sound)
and a set of koni sports from the koni sa agents .
like everybody said here already, coilovers too hard for daily road use, lowering springs/good shocks your best bet.. koni/bilstein/kyb/tein/tockico all good, you just have to decide

Meneer, you never have to apologise for asking questions, that's exactly what this forum is here for. We're all more than happy to help out fellow members where we canljS14 wrote:Sorry for all the question

Anyway 300sx gave you some great advice in his last post, the only thing I want to mention is that Eibach springs kits are carefully matched to stock dampers so if you don't go with the stock KYB's then the springs won't perform at their best. Good luck with whichever route you decide on.
