We my crappy local made clutch has given up the ghost and I’m not in the mood to have one made again so I am going for an imported kit
I would like to go with ACT but they are a bit to price and my budget just cant take the knock right now , So Im thinking of going with the below kit, I have done a lot of R&D on the company and everything look good they are not as good as ACT but they are not as fly-by night company either

Not bad price. We had this discussion before, but mine was made by Louis Lima with great success. Copper, 6 x puck and double frame pressure plate.
R2400. Will last with nitrous, w/m and the whole lot. Basically no shudder and really easy on my left leg. Not that bad. I am happy with the investment. Louis can do it.

I have see a number of local clutch and they just don’t compare to even the basic stuff out there in other countries, My clutch is one of them I would rather fork out for a company with 16 years experience in just clutch making.
The next thing I want to get for my baby
- 2 front cross-drilled/slotted rotors
- 2 rear cross-drilled/slotted rotors
i picked up a sachs clutch the other day for a skyline RB30e (i was silly enough to think that because all the measurements were right it would fit my SR20). the clutch was labelled sachs, but obviously they are supplied by daiken in japan - who manufacture exedy clutches, because thats what was inside the box.
the clutch was one of the best single plate organic kits i've ever seen. definitely had moerse strength, it was so damn beefy. it also only cost 860-00 for the whole kit, which is clutch plate, pressure plate, and thrust bearing.
although my point is flawed because i am talking about a stock clutch kit, i still think its better to support the local dudes when they have good products.
think about the long term benefits. the reason we dont get nice stuff here is that there is no local support for it. if people keep boycotting companies because a product was 200 cheaper to import, then you will never have successful importers in SA, and you will never have a market that is viable for any potential businesses here.
use that, or dont?

you intentions are noble Veecee but flawed because I have supported the local dudes and find there products lacking.
Other people might not have this issue and like Chemcool said but ,I want to set one thing straight if you have not realized the SA motor industry is here to rip you off and a couple of guys buying a Local made clutch is not going to change anything with regards or there standing on our cars or there prices our cars are to rare and there is a big profit to be made.
There are enough Importer out there aswell , And they make a great profit at the end of the month so one or two or 100 guys is not going to make this huge Impact like you say.
Also I'm looking after my money that I work my a$$ off for and If I can get a better world wide proven product for cheaper or around the same price as local then it would be stupid not to go for it. Do you think all the local vendors come together to find way to make things cheaper for us? they run businesses and are here to make money and I'm here to get the best possible product for the cheapest possible price
look - i knew when i was writing my last paragraph that my noble and flawed is true!
because i also dont buy into the we take your old clutch and make a nice new copper puck one??? a high performance clutch made by a long standing clutch company like daiken or ACT or clutchmasters, etc, with decent R&D and decent testing facilities and decent quality programs like all the ISO 9000's and so on - is always going to be better.
and the economy around is crappy.
and you have to save as much as you can.
but someone has to support local or there wont be local after a while. businesses will only remain in SA if they have a sustainable market.
but thats also difficult - because if the clientele can get better for cheaper then the local companies also have to come to the party and be more competitive!

funny.. when i was putting together my motor swap originally , i was really broke, just wanted to get it up and running..
so i had the used clutch plate re-lined, pressure plate re-surfaced, and had the flywheel stepped for more clamping pressure, thinking that i would fork out the money in a month or 3 when it gave in.. i have not been able to break that clutch yet.. go figure.
on a side note, if i could buy stuff locally for R200-00 more than i could import, i would do it with a smile. but in my experience most guys that import put at least a 100% markup on the stuff.. thus slitting their own throats..
