Ideal Turbo Size
Hi Guys.
I am new to the forum. And find this forum very interesting and helpful.
My question is what will the ideal size turbo be on my CA18DET 200SX S13, if i was to upgrade the turbo with a bigger one?

Ideal for quick spool up and a decent torque band...
GT2860RS from Garrett... That would be my first choice

and it's direct bolt on...
Engine Parts is the local Garrett distributor, last time I checked they had in stock it was like R8900

T3/T4 is a Danville mod... and you'll need to change your manifold, the other ones are a straight bolt on, well nearly you'll need to modify your hot pipe a little but nothing that can't be fixed with some silicon hoses.
I also heard good things of the GT2871R it spools a little later than the 60R, which is what I don't like, but it has a larger torque band which is cool.
For my personal preference I would still stick to the GT2860RS

I spoke to turbo exchange, the ballbearing turbo's are very good but he said unfortunately these turbos are not as easely repaired as normal none ballbearing turbo's, this means 1 of 2 things, either when it goes you need to buy a new one or you wait for months so they can send it over seas to be repaired......he supplied a guy with one and the guy had to replace it 3 times in about 2 months....
my opinion is rather create your own hybrit t28.t3/t3.5, parts are easily availeble so it can be fixed easily

I wish I had R9000 just lying around.
With all points taken into account the T3/T4 is Danville but its damn more cheaper then a GT28RS even with the manifold and exhaust taken into account.
So yep its "danville" but so is a 1400 bakkie with a Turbo Mazda motor

just finished installing a gt28rs on my s13.did a lot of justifying on y spending R8500 on a gt2860rs was the right thing to do.after about a month i realised, finacialy it wasnt a good choice. then went out and bought it. bolted it all in but running as expected.boost comes in at around 4500rpm.only 0.5 bar.my first turbo swop so im sure i stuffed up somewhere.if anyones got any ideas why boosts comeing in so late let me know.ill keep u guys posted if it was worth it or not.
I would still rather go with the Garrett GT2860RS Turbo.
Ballbearing turbos makes more power than the hybrid turbo.
That turbo would do wonders for my sx on the 400m, because it spools soon.
P.S. It's not the size of your equipment that counts , but it's the way it performs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My choice?
GT2860RS!!!!!!!!!
