smoking exhaust
Hi my 200sx is smoking badly. when i start is when its cold some black oil spay comes out of the exhaust but when the engins warm it smokes. The engin was recently overhauled about 10000 km ago so i don't think the problem is the piston rings. If anyone has any advice or know of any possible solutions, please could you let me know.
thanks wez_sx

Hi
It might be the turbo.... and this might be a silly one, but at least consider it as some people has actually mistaken this for something else.
That black stuff is water condensation that is blasting out of your box that has captured carbon particles, when it falls on he ground it stays there. Usually you can see the black strip of dots in your garage or driveway caused by that.
Some people has actually mistaken steam for smoke..... what are the chances?
just a few thoughts...
with regards to the engine and turbo, there is always a chance for it to be either or both.

I think your quite right, sometimes I have a black spray as well but it wipes off very easily even on my hands and looks more like black carbon water. Oh and my turbo was brand new.MyPRodOL wrote:Hi

What colour is the smoke? cause it aint exactly warm in the mornings.
Do you get smoke when boosting or Idling? Try to describe what you are doing when it smokes.

Ok, sorry, just had to make sure.... My girlfriend once asked me, why does your daily drive smoke so bad? So I freaked out totally, what? its smoking!!!!!! So after investigation I realized she was referring to the steam in the mornings or late evening when driving behind me...... eish.
In that case, my bet is on the turbo seals for now. Still a chance that it could be something else, but I reckon 80% turbo.
Those seals pack up and cause a lot of smoke, and it will get worse.
Usually its tarts of when you nail the car and stop, like 10 to 30 seconds time it suddenly starts to smoke very badly. It gets worse and worse till it smokes permanently.
