I used the crimp wire connectors supplied in the kit to join the fuel pump wire harness to the cars wiring. These crimped wire connections are submerged in the fuel tank.
How safe is this?
First prize to me would be to solder and heat shrink the joined wires. Can anyone confirm if this is neccessary or if the crimped connections are fine?
Crimping is fine ,as lng as there is no movement of the pump and wires in the tank. I had a walboro replacement done here in cape town and the guy that supplies fits and tests infront of you.price was reasoable. I did question him about it and he confirmed what all of you guys are saying, its ok as long as there's no touching and/or pulling loose of the wireing. BUT if you do feel the need there should not be a problem with soldering and then heat shrinking. to state the obvious insulation tape is a nono... will block the fuel lines.
Okay for the sake of my sanity and in the name of not blowing up my car (and me yes) if something should spark, I'm gonna go ahead and solder and heatshrink it.
D@mmit now I gotta take the pump out again. I hate loosening those fuel lines going into the tank....
