Aaah, but I didnt say that either :P There is nothing wrong with running a good mineral oil, in fact I run one in my wifes car and its been perfect, no complaints.

Ok so gathering all the useful info....

Its better for our (high performance) cars to run synthetic oils to cheaper mineral oils... correct?

ok so then which of the synthetic oils must I buy myself? Because I want to service my SX this weekend and don't want to pay for oil twice!

Well, the concensus umongst sane individuals is the following

- You cant go wrong with mobil one, the best but the most expensive
- Royal purple is just as good
- only heard good things about Castrol softec/txt
- Castrol edge is ok, but bottom of the range
- Shell in the silver bottle is also good

mobil 1 less than 500-00 for 5 litres IIRC!

i use the helix - fully synthetic (silver bottle) - i think its about 380-00 for 5 liters.

uhm... edge is about 180 for 5 litres

and softec (highly recommended - apparently, but i havent tried it??? - so please dont come over to my place to argue face to face with fists!!!) is about 110 per litre, and is only available in small little tiny plastic irritating little bottles!!!

Thanx VC.

I'll go for the helix. Its a inbetweener, not to cheap and not to expensive...

Ok this is off topic but: where can I source the filters(oil, fuel). remember I'm in Hermanus.....
