pfffttt - just a sales trick...
here's an excerpt:
How much do you value the engine in your car? Think about it, because the life of your engine depends in no small part on the quality of the oil you put in it - oil is the lifeblood of your car's engine. From the mid 80's for 8 or 9 years there was a veritable revolution in car engine oil. All oils were no longer the same thanks to the popularity of hot hatches, 16-valve engines and turbos as the tuner scene started to rise. Combined with the devastating problems of black death, the days of one oil catering for everyone were over.
go to the full article here http://www.carbibles.com/engineoil_bible.html because i dont feel like retyping the heaps of info that there is out there, proving the fact that the better oils ARE actually better!
pay particular attention the BLACK DEATH and SLUDGE sections.

OMG!
i guess you just cant help it.
what worries me is that you are giving others advice like, "just use normal shell helix" cos the xost of the synthetic stuff is not justified.
yet the cost of rebuilding turbos and engines far outweighs 300 bucks for 5 litres every 5-10 thousand km's.???

So why does my mechanic who is a well known tuner and has built a few sx that was on loads of events and mags tell me I shouldn't bother using synthetic???
If you guys are such good tuners why aren't you so good that we hear of your cars making it everywhere??? All we hear is that this is no broken and that is now broken.
back to the oil...you know that dog food and bully beef is one and the same thing??? just different packaging! That is how they are fooling us with things like that. It has been proven on many a motor show.

SORRY, have you ever heard me bitching about my car breaking?? I have had it over 160RwKw for the past 2 years, I drive it every day. It has been at 200RwKw for nearly the past year, still no issues. So dont come saying that my car is always breaking, cause it one of the most reliable here. The fact that we dont built these "tuner" cars is $$$, where do you expect me to shit that much $$$ from hey?? The last I saw these so called "tuners" dont build these cars for free, most of the cars they build are customers cars so not 1c somes out of their pocket. If you guys are such good tuners why aren't you so good that we hear of your cars making it everywhere??? Please hanco maybe you and your mechy know something more that the chemists at Shell, Mobil 1, Castrol etc, and you guys should go teach the engineers that design engines something. You obviously know than they do, or is it that you are just regurgitating what your Mechy is telling you??
PS: Hanco what do you do for a living?? Is it anything to do with engines, or cars for that matter??
Gary...sorry but I need to say something here....the fact that your car has been relieble for the last 2 years may have no connection to the oil you use, not to say I know more or anything about oil, forget about the oil, mostly our cars break because of cheap fixes and wrong setups....we can blame oil as much as we want.....but be honost....no one on this forum could without any doubt say the oil caused the breakdown....of a turbo or a motor
No draco he said:
That is saying that we know nothing and all our cars are always breaking. That has nothing to do the oil we use at all, but more that we know nothing cause our cars are always breaking. My car does NOT break and it has more power than most. He cannot sit there saying that I am no good cause all he hears is this is broken on my car, now that is broken on my car.If you guys are such good tuners why aren't you so good that we hear of your cars making it everywhere??? Something my commonsence tells me....maybe I am rong but sludge and such does cause buildup that causes blockages and so forth, synthetick oil obviosly helps reduse this because it is thinner.
But if you look at engines with that kind of sludge and buildup, you would see those engines were rarely serviced, oil in those engines were there for much more then 10000 km's.....obviosly if you don't do regular oil changes and engine flushes sludge will form....thats common sence or sense or what ever....
Just my point of view
