Depends, client supplied last engine and it was the 2nd engine I sent the 1st one back as it was horrific.
You can look at the outside all you want. The particular engine in question I stripped tappet cover and sump off and it was immaculate really thought we had a good motor untill I started it.
So now they can deliver a motor and while the driver waits I will pull the tappet cover and do a cyl leakage test. If its scrap he can take it straight back. If they are not happy with that arrangement then I will shop elsewhere.

I am starting to like the way you do things, I just need to get all the funds together and more than probably will get you to do the SR20DET swop for me in 2 or so months time
What Engime management systems do you use/recomend, the XMS is great but requires alot of cash
What happend to the XMS lite that was mentioned a while back

Ok, when I asked my question, it was under this context:
1) I'm not trying to cut corners. I'm trying to avoid over-engineering.
2) I will never up the boost on my car. I will never modify it for more power. If I want more power, I get another car.
3) I want to not have to open up my motor again for the next 100,000km or so.
So, is it will ok just to replace piston rings, hone cylinder, and replace bearings, as per service manuals?

The xms light is available however. What Engime management systems do you use/recomend, the XMS is great but requires alot of cash

It cannot do sequential ignition and it only has 3 outputs
I am using all 8 of the xms outputs on dislex666's car, depends on what you want to switch.
The stock s14 ecu drives all the outputs below and so does the XMS.
Fuel pump
Rev counter
Eccs relay
Boost control
Radiator fans
Aircon
VVT
Idle control

mmmm
I understand then why, cause It will be diffcult to get the S14 ECU and even if I do, I supose the XMS would be the better option its just +- 10k for the managment and then another few K for the tune is alot , think I'll start selling the gold bricks off of my car. Who wants the steering wheel only 5k.
