hmmmm so a whole sx forum and no one can tell me what effect a bigger FMIC is supposed to have on a stockish CA18?
I expected a lot of lag as a lot of ppl will say such a FMIC is too big for our cars, but so far it seems the opposite. The car is actually a bit more torque at low rpm and feels like it's picking up boost faster. At high rpm it revs rather quickly now as well.
I'd love to hit a dyno and see if there is in fact a hp difference but so far the SOTP dyno says it's a good mod.
Also happy to report no overheating issues as I've seen some peeps reported after going FM.
i bought a FMIC and the piping leading to the throttle body is for the SR20DET. where could i get one for the CA that is seperately sold? nice installation though. what cable did you use to run the battery to the boot(thats if you did run it to the boot)
My kit came with 2 sets of pipes leading to the TB. One seemed to be for the Red top SR (Bends downwards) and this one which bends a bit higher. It wasn't a perfect fit on the CA so I just modified the existing pipe I had on for the BOV to get the right lenth.
You can also just buy a longer piece of silicone connecter from Vee's Auto Pipes for example.
I had some cable from a previous "battery in boot" installation. Made by Aberdare cables and is about the thickness of my index finger.
PS: for everyone who are fitting their batteries in the boot, make sure you run it in a battery box with a vent to the atmosphere. I've read some horror stories of battery gas building up and exploding in the boot of the car.
With mine fitted I did not make much more power, below 10kw on the wheels.....I suppose it is also up to the person tuning the car but don't expect to much....
