Strut braces

Post by Trance101 »

Hey guys,

I'm looking at getting both front and rear upper strut braces for my sx. Is it worth it to buy the good brands like GReddy and tein or will the no-name brand ones suffice. There are lots on offer on ebay but shipping is a pain.

I'm lean towards getting a pair of GReddy ones for about R2200 on ebay. But, they will only work out at that price if the shipping is combined. On the other hand I could get some random no name brand one for quite a bit cheaper. I'm not sure if its worth it tho. What you guys think?

I wouldn’t pay so much for a strut brace. I have a no name brand and in my opinion works and looks great. I paid R400 with shipping…..

I cant see it making a huge difference, maybe the material its made from and the weight. Just as long as it doesnt have a crap construction it should be fine.

Kimi, where did you get yours? Front and Rear? some pics would be nice :D

phone jerry at import parts...

the Tein ones are fantastic, from both an aesthetic and a construction viewpoint - and are not that expensive.

Thanks guys.

I've been thinking about it and I don't think simple things like strut braces are worth spending big money on. I don't want crap ones tho.

I'l see what the price will be for the tein ones are from jerry, thanks veecee. If they are well priced I'd definitely like them.

Got the prices from import parts. They are R1395 each... not exactly cheap. And apparently they haven't found a front strut brace that can fit the s13 with a ca18det motor. So only the rear will fit...

This makes me worry about ones that can be bought off ebay. What if they won't fit on s13's with the ca18det as well. Anyone know of one that fits fine??

Did they give a reason why it does not fit?

its the angle that the motor sits, plus the big intake on the ca18det that sits quite high.

you need to find a strut brace that sits quite high to one side.

its totally unsymmetrical, so it looks a bit strange, but it does the job.

Haha, quite a hectic engine bay that.

@KimiG: Does that strut brace touch the manifold there? Any trouble fitting it? Do you know who the ebay seller was?
