well there you go... I've wasted some cash on buying these goodies at Nissan... Do midas stock the flat ones with the raised edges too? I think it would be a great saving for the club members as these ones where pretty expensive??????

howsit...

got the injectors out... was actually quite simple in the end...

just loosened up the idle thing, then a whole bunch of breather pipes, loosened up the bolt on the side of the intake o nthe fuel rail, and then teh 2 bolts that hold the fuel rail in place, and it was loose...

there is only 1 o-ring, which I think you might get away with as a universal part, the other ones seem to be different shapes that I'm assuming only nissan will have... the other one that goes directly onto the manifold, I think you could get that in universal as well... but I'm just guessing here...

Hi guys...

ok, so after getting a confusing picture from nissan about which way the rubbers go onto the injectors, I eventually just went with the same way they were when I pulled them out...

According to the picture from nissan, its just the o-ring that fits on the rail side, then the spacer rubber and that flat washer type rubber fit on the other side where the injector goes into the manifold. The way they came out, had the o-ring then the spacer rubber, and just that flat washer rubber on the manifold side... replaced it this way. Anyone, please feel free to clear this up...

After replacing it, I see injector number 3 is the culprit... its a bit wet around the top, on that plastic part where the connector plug goes in... there are 2 small holes on that plastic thing, and the best way I can describe it is like the water pump that has those 2 holes on the side, and its starts the drip water out... is this repairable at all, or is it just eaasier to replace this one injector.

Thanks.

If you are sure the petrol is leaking out of the holes then the injector is frot.....you can't repair that, but be very sure, the o- ring is the culpret 99% of the time.....

Mo did you grease up the o-rings? Sometimes they go a bit skew as you insert them again etc.

VC you mentioned something about the Rotary guys injectors fitting in our cars? And that most of them upgrade anyways so they should have some laying around??

yeah, I did...
if it was leaking from teh o-ring, I think it would be pouring the petrol out...

this seems like its coming from those 2 holes... if I wipe it, it stays clear for a while, then after a bit starts to look a bit wet again...

yeah you guys need to be very very careful when installing the or-rings.

you need to get even pressure all around the o-ring.
you need to lube it up with something good - like CASTROL red rubber grease.

god this sounds dodgy!!!

and yes G - the mazda rotary ones fit. they are 550cc's too, so its an upgrade for us smallfries!!! and there are always some extra lying around. i think i noticed some on offer in junkmail this week, at R200 a pop. not bad for a 550cc injector hey!
